Photo Review: Sideshow’s 1/4 Scale Battle of Crete Fallschirmjäger

Sideshow makes amazing entertainment and creative collectibles, but their military releases have been few and far between, as they tend to focus more on pop culture themes.

That said, we are mightily impressed with the new Sideshow Battle of Crete Fallschirmjäger 1/4 Scale Statue that (finally) arrived in stock a couple of weeks ago. The weathered sculpt and slouching posture evoke post-battle war weariness. The figure shows just the right amount of wear, and the equipment and uniform are accurate and extremely detailed.

While WWII Fallschirmjägers are well-trodden ground in 1/6 scale, this quarter-scale statue is a fine addition to any WWII collection room – perhaps nestled between a 1:1 FSJ Stahlhelm and Dragon’s Max. Check out the pictures below, and leave your comments below!

Backstory: this statue spent two years or so in development before being released in VERY limited numbers – only 250 available worldwide.

Photo Review: Valerius, Roman Legionary

The first thing we noticed about the new 1/6 scale Ancient Roman Legionary: Valerius figure from Kaustic Plastik was the extraordinary crafting that went into the armor. The armor is made of weathered metal-like material with metal appliques. He comes with three unique helmets, each weathered metal with photo-incision brass details. Two metal swords and a spear complete his armament. From the woven leather sandals to the painted full-length shield, this limited edition piece is extraordinary.

You’ll want some fab-tac or light glue on hand to reinforce the brass appliques and finish the helmet.
